Range Rover unveils first fully electric model

Range Rover has unveiled its first fully electric model, the Range Rover Electric, marking a major shift in its electrification programme. The vehicle will be built at JLR's manufacturing plant in Solihull, West Midlands, following large-scale upgrades. Parent company JLR said it has up-skilled 10,500 workers for electric production, including 9,000 in Solihull and 1,500 across the region. The launch comes after a year-long delay and amid falling profits, supply chain disruption, and restructuring following a cyber attack last year. JLR's Electric Propulsion Manufacturing Centre in Wolverhampton is now producing battery packs and electric drive units. The company reported profits dropping to £66m in the first quarter after a fire at a key Norwegian supplier, and confirmed fewer than 300 job cuts. Martin Limpert, managing director of Range Rover, called the new model the result of a decade of 'considered engineering'.
