Di Battista to leave Cuba on Friday via air ambulance

Alessandro Di Battista, former member of Italy's Five Star Movement, announced on social media that he feels better and will depart from Cuba on September 4 using an air ambulance, with costs covered by his travel insurance policy. He thanked Cuban doctors for their timely diagnosis and initial care. Di Battista has been hospitalized since Friday evening, first in Santa Clara and then in Havana, due to severe headaches. Two specialists from Rome's Gemelli hospital have flown to Havana to assist local doctors and may accompany him on the flight. His partner Sahra Lahouasnia and Luca Di Giuseppe, president of his association Schierarsi, are also with him. Di Giuseppe urged caution in sharing information, saying official updates will come from Di Battista and his family. Reports indicate Di Battista had ruled out using a state aircraft, but a government-provided plane remains an option. Costs would still be covered by his insurance. The newspaper Il Fatto Quotidiano and Conte's party have offered to cover any additional expenses. Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani highlighted that 25 Italians have been medically repatriated this summer, emphasizing the Foreign Ministry's assistance to all citizens.
