Sophie Adenot to perform third spacewalk, first all-female EVA with Jessica Meir

French astronaut Sophie Adenot, 44, is set to perform her third extravehicular activity (EVA) in less than two weeks on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. This time, she will lead an all-female team, working with NASA astronaut Jessica Meir outside the International Space Station (ISS). The spacewalk, scheduled to begin around 12:30 GMT, will last about six and a half hours and will be broadcast live. Tasks include replacing a retroreflector, preparing a cosmic particle detector, installing data relay cables, and replacing a high-definition camera. Adenot, who became the first French woman to spacewalk on August 18, will be the crew member 1, wearing a suit with red stripes. This EVA marks the second all-female spacewalk in history, following Meir's 2019 EVA with Christina Koch.
