Sophie Adenot to lead third all-female spacewalk on ISS

French astronaut Sophie Adenot is set to perform her third extravehicular activity (EVA) in just two weeks, this time leading an all-female team with NASA astronaut Jessica Meir. The spacewalk, scheduled to begin around 12:30 GMT on September 1, 2026, will last about six and a half hours and will be broadcast live. The duo will replace a retroreflector, prepare a cosmic particle detector, install data relay cables, and replace a high-definition camera on the ISS truss. Adenot, who became the first French astronaut to perform a spacewalk on August 18, will serve as crew member 1, wearing a suit with red stripes. This will be Meir's seventh spacewalk; she was part of the first all-female EVA in 2019 with Christina Koch. Adenot has been on the ISS since February 13, 2026, as part of Crew-12, and is scheduled to return in autumn.
