School reopens in Ginostra after 20 years with one student
The primary school in Ginostra, a hamlet on the island of Stromboli in the Aeolian archipelago, will reopen on September 10 after being closed for 20 years. The school will be housed in a building owned by the parish of San Vincenzo Ferreri, recently renovated and granted free of charge for unlimited use through an agreement between the Municipality of Lipari and the Archdiocese of Messina, Lipari and Santa Lucia del Mela. The only student in the first class is Aisha, a six-year-old girl. The activation of the class was requested on January 8 by the municipal council of Lipari to the provincial school office of Messina, with regional approval on January 19.
