Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama dies aged 97

Yayoi Kusama, the renowned Japanese artist famous for her polka dots and immersive Infinity Mirror Rooms, has died at the age of 97. She died in a Tokyo hospital earlier this month. Kusama emerged as part of the pop art movement and became one of the few artists whose work achieved mass popularity, attracting crowds to exhibitions worldwide. Her trademark polka dots covered entire galleries and giant sculptures, and she used mirrors and lights to create infinite patterns. She had voluntarily lived in a psychiatric hospital for decades.
