Israeli Navy's sixth submarine, INS Dragon, begins voyage from Germany to Israel

The Israeli Navy's newest submarine, INS Dragon (אח"י דרקון), has officially begun its journey from Germany to Israel, marking a significant milestone in Israel's naval capabilities. The submarine is the third and final vessel in the Dolphin AIP class, acquired by the Israeli Ministry of Defense. It incorporates cutting-edge technologies, enhancing Israel's operational flexibility and positioning it at the forefront of global military technology. The departure was accompanied by a large-scale security operation led by the Ministry of Defense's Security Division in cooperation with German security forces. Upon arrival at the Haifa naval base, a state ceremony will be held. Navy Commander Vice Admiral Eyal Harel stated that the submarine, along with three new Dakar-class submarines, will be central to the future of the submarine fleet, offering advanced capabilities, longer range, extended mission endurance, and significant operational power. Ze'ev Landau, Deputy Director General and Head of the Administration for the Development of Weapons and Technological Infrastructure (Maf'at) at the Ministry of Defense, highlighted the submarine as the most advanced and complex weapons system in the IDF, a masterpiece of German industry developed in close cooperation with the Israeli Navy. Israeli Ambassador to Berlin, Ron Prosor, emphasized the strategic partnership between Israel and Germany.
