Israeli air strikes on Gaza kill at least five people

Israeli air strikes across Gaza killed at least five people on Monday, according to health officials. Two people were killed when a strike hit a crowd near a municipal public park in Gaza City, an area packed with displaced families, and several were wounded. A separate strike on a vehicle in the Tal al-Hawa neighbourhood killed at least three people. The Israeli military claimed the attacks targeted Hamas fighters without providing evidence. Relatives buried two of the victims at al-Shifa Hospital. Israel has escalated attacks despite a ceasefire agreed in October. Since the ceasefire took effect, 1,313 Palestinians have been killed, according to Gaza's Health Ministry. The Palestinian Centre for Missing and Forcibly Disappeared Persons reported 4,000-5,000 missing under rubble. Since October 2023, nearly 73,500 Palestinians have been confirmed killed and nearly 174,500 injured.
