Google DeepMind launches Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash with new generative video controls

On August 27, 2026, Google DeepMind introduced Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash, an update to its generative video model. The new version adds several creative controls: scene extension (allowing up to 10 seconds of prior context and extending videos in 10-second increments up to 40 seconds total), first and last frame interpolation for smooth transitions, 360p preview generation (up to 60% faster and at a third of the cost of 720p), and 1080p/4K upscaling for professional production. It also supports referencing up to three seconds of video for character consistency. The model is available via the Gemini API in Google AI Studio and has been integrated into products like Adobe Firefly, Figma Weave, and Runway. It is also rolling out to Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra subscribers in Google Flow and the Gemini app.
