Gatwick Airport hit by water outage after burst main

On August 28, 2026, a burst water main in Horley, Surrey, caused a water outage at Gatwick Airport, affecting both terminals. SES Water located the burst main and began restoring supply, with water pressure returning to normal. Toilets in the North Terminal were closed, and food outlets were limited to seating only. Flights were unaffected. The airport and SES Water worked to minimize disruption, and by later in the day, water supplies were restored to the airport, though internal plumbing issues remained. This incident followed a similar outage in July 2026.
