Ex-council chief investigated in DUP mayor clothing probe

Anne Donaghy, former chief executive of Mid and East Antrim Borough Council, is one of three people referred to prosecutors for consideration over alleged misconduct in public office. The investigation concerns the handling of clothing expenses claimed by former DUP mayor Audrey Wales, who spent over £2,300 but the council initially disclosed only £190 in a Freedom of Information response. The PSNI has submitted a file to the Public Prosecution Service. Donaghy's solicitor says the allegations will be met with the same robustness as this week's proceedings, which are under appeal. Donaghy was recently convicted of two charges related to deleting an email to prevent disclosure under FOI.
