Courier dies of illness during delivery on last day of contract in Piacenza

Pasquale Andriotta, a 42-year-old courier working under a subcontract for BRT in Piacenza, Italy, died of a sudden illness while making a delivery. The incident occurred on the final day of his fixed-term contract, which expired that day. According to Filt-Cgil, colleagues reported that he feared his contract would not be renewed. The union also noted that workers at the BRT subcontractor Afs Service in Piacenza-Caorso were on strike that day, following a state of agitation declared on Friday. The strike was prompted by increasing workloads, staff shortages, increasingly heavy shifts, and an unsustainable work organization.
