16-year-old beats mother to death in Rome, calls emergency services

In Rome's Centocelle district, a 16-year-old boy violently beat his 50-year-old mother and then called 112 to report what he had done. The attack occurred in the apartment where they lived. The mother was taken to Policlinico di Tor Vergata in critical condition and died hours later. The boy, who had prior psychological issues, is now hospitalized in psychiatry at Policlinico Umberto I. Neighbors reported no prior signs of trouble. The father had left years ago. Police found the boy outside with a bloodied shirt. Investigations are ongoing.
